it started with a silly idea…
What if i made a twitch channel based around an npc?
Around the start of the pandemic, v-tubers (virtual-tubers) started to grow in popularity. Face and motion tracking coupled with interactive elements on platforms like Twitch helped make an entire industry that supports major content creators like HoloLive.
I had been streaming (as myself) for several years, and thought… what if I made a v-tuber? But not just any v-tuber… but a character inspired by a section in my favorite video game: Final Fantasy VII.

A huge part of the labor for The Honey Bee Inn NPC was the larger brand that surrounds Honey. If I’m traveling, I need overlays for Twitch’s mobile platform. If I’m meeting someone in person, I need HoneyBeenInn business cards.
Most importantly, Honey needed a world to exist in, and with the resolution of 320 x 224 of the original game, it was important to me to create an HD background she could live on… which meant remastering and adding to the original artwork to make something new and usable for the Twitch platform.
